Since producing the first ever bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in 1974, Matua has been a mainstay of the New Zealand wine industry. As we celebrate our 50th Vintage we continue to make our name for quality wines, sourcing fruit from across New Zealand’s premier wine regions.

We are currently looking for a Cellar Supervisor to join the Matua Marlborough team located in Rapaura, Blenheim.

About the role:

In this this role you will provide efficient operation of the cellar by supervising and coaching cellar team members to meet the winery targets and production needs in a manner that complies with all safety policies and other relevant standards

  • Co-ordinate, allocate and complete work as required to meet production plans and cellar notes

  • General Cellar Operations

  • Provide on-going support for the cellar as required ensuring the cellar as a whole meet’s targets and timeframes.

  • Report quality and process improvement issues to Cellar Manager.

  • Develop relationships and assist Winemakers when necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with safety rule and SOP's.

    About you:

    With Relevant wine industry / cellar operations experience, you will have exceptional people management skills and experience.

  • 3+ years Relevant wine industry / cellar operations experience

  • Ability to problem solve and see problems and take action before a major problem

  • Company policy and procedure understanding and competence

  • Sound coaching, counselling skills Outstanding level of commitment, drive and initiative

  • Identify counselling / discipline issues and resolve quickly and respectfully

  • Prioritise and allocate work tasks to team members

  • Good communication, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills

  • Able to perform manual handling tasks and work long hours (a medical check will be part of the process)

    Ability to work weekends, afternoon, and night shifts, 12-hours per day 6 days per week when required during busy periods.
